CAGLA
SOKULLU
Noctilucence
Luminous, glowing before me
Is an entirety of shores, pearls beneath my feet
I lose footprints behind me
Ahead, the never-ending firmament.
Is this half-dreamed fantasy ours, my love?
If you’d like, these waves could carry me to you,
One with the wind I will come for you
This city of sorrows is left half-built like my fantasies.
The child me wanted to steal a happy ending.
Far from the city, in your laughter in the blue
In you, I thought I found my ending.
Was this the hole in my chest, this empty bird’s nest?
But Life is still the yearning for the blue sea
My childhood an ecstasy, a soaring wave.
This poem is a translation of
its original in Turkish, Yakamoz.
